Holistic
Emphasizes and deals with the "whole" person. It is based on the integration of the mind, body, emotions, will, and spiritual orientation. How the interplay of these aspects of a person affects happiness, self-esteem and personal relationships is the key. Peoples' emotional patterns are set by their life experiences and the defense mechanisms they have established to protect themselves. The therapist, by using guided discussions and teaching clients various relaxation and visualization techniques, encourages clients to "go within themselves" and get in touch with their true feelings and the reasons for them. This form of therapy blends eastern and western philosophies. The capacity to love oneself and to view the various parts of the self as spiritually integrated and in harmony with the universe at large is restored. Self-love, self-understanding, and forgiveness of self as well as others who may have harmed them, lead to healing.
